The legend is, if you catch a leprechaun, he has to give you his treasure.
So, (thanks to a little inspiration from Family Fun magazine) we cooked up this little trap:
Notice the chunk of iron pyrite placed on top of the "hat" to lure the Leprechaun to the top. He steps on top and falls through the top of the hat which has been cut open and covered with a loose piece of felt.
Well, apparently the trap worked, because when the kids got up in the morning they found the hat full of (chocolate) gold coins.
For breakfast we had Green Eggs and Ham and green milk.
And dinner was green fettuccine, green broccoli, and shamrock shaped bread sticks brushed with green garlic butter
Green Ale (sprite with cherry and lime)
And gold at the end of the rainbow cup cakes.
We consumed more than a years worth of green food coloring, but had a "jolly" Irish day none the less.

Dang, Kim. You put the rest of us mothers out there to shame. The best I could do for the day was to make french toast out of green bread! Can I come live at your house? It sure sounds like alot of fun!
From here on out I'm calling you for Holiday ideas, what a fun tradition! Oh, i bet your kids loved it. So just plan on each upcoming holiday, run your thoughts through me, & If it still sounds beyond my creative capabilities, you may just have to make arrangments for two families. It would be the neighborly thing to do, and you do want to be my good neighbor, right? It's settled then.
Kim you are soooo creative!!! You are such an awesome Mom! I almost sent Megan off to school wearing Pink on St. Patty's Day :)
Good job Kim! Now I want to know if the poop in the tub was GREEN from all the food coloring! Hahaha :o)
No green poop, but the throw up was. (In case you wanted to know)
