New Years 2010

We hosted the girls (Hailey and Maggie) annual New Years Eve Pizza and Pajama party again this year. The turn out wasn't quite as big (only 11 girls between 6-10) but they had a good time anyway. They ate pizza and chips and cookies and caramel pop corn. They drank soda from plastic champagne glasses (their FAVORITE part). We played games and watched a movie and each girl (and Logan) got their own noise horn and bag of confetti to throw at midnight. They had a great time.

I'm wondering how this will work next year when Logan wants to invite his friends too. Some how I'm not sure a bunch of 6 year old boys will mesh well with a bunch of 8-11 year old girls, but I guess we'll see.

The day after new years was a bit of a sad day. We had to put our dog down (13 1/2 year old Siberian Husky named Kita). She was originally my brothers dog, but my parents moved to a new house without a fenced yard, so she's been living with us for the last year and a half. The kids cried all day. My Dad came to pick her up and take her to the vet at 3:00. We prayed and cried together and said goodbye. It was my kids first experience with death (other that Adam's grandpa whom they didn't know very well) and it was bitter sweet.

We took the kids sledding after that to try to lift their spirits a bit.
It worked too. They had a really fun time. It was the first time we'd been sledding in at least a year, if not longer.

Me and Logan. He was not happy with the snow spraying up in his face.

Hailey, Daddy and Maddie.

Hailey started having fun just as it was time to go.

Maggie had the most fun of anyone (typical happy Maggie)

What New Years fun! So sorry to hear about your dog. We had to put down our dog a few years ago and she had been a part of our family for 13 years. Loss is always hard!
